Role Purpose

In this role, the Control Manager is responsible for the implementation of the Control Framework. Communication skills are a must-have as you’ll be a collaborative team player, working closely with Quality and Issue teams, as well the Operational areas and Operational Risk. You’ll be able to work with initiative, be adaptable and able to work to deadlines. You’ll be expected to organise yours and your team’s workload effectively and manage multiple tasks given from the senior quality and control manager

  • Support the implementation and embedding of a control framework
  • Develop and evolve 1LODs approach
  • Oversee the delivery of risk and control self-assessments, provide analysis and reporting that adds value to senior management and the committee
  • Provide relevant and timely reporting to Boards and Committees as required
  • Actively promote continuous improvement, working closely with colleagues by identifying greater operational efficiencies
  • Keep up to date with external standards and practices
  • Support the wider operations teams a directed by senior line management
  • Undertake performance management trend analysis
  • Manage the induction/training plan for new employees to the Control Team
  • Manage the team, strategy and methodology to ensure readiness to changing guidelines and expectations
  • Monitor productivity and team performance

Skills and Abilities

  • Proven experience of working within a 1LOD control environment
  • Understanding of risk/compliance policies and processes
  • Strong understanding of operational risk and risk management frameworks
  • Strong understanding of compliance/regulatory requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of different types of operational risks, systems and processes including risk management framework
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills with the ability to build relationships across business units
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced time driven environment
  • Excellent organisational skills with an ability to prioritise requests and workloads
  • Ability to work as part of a team with a high degree of drive, determination and motivation to succeed
  • Logical thinker with an ability to provide clear and concise rationale to a given situation
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate with senior members of the organisation
  • Experience of driving process improvements
