Role Purpose

As a key member of the Data Governance team, you will be responsible for the creation and management of all data governance tools, while also fully participating to service the information needs of the organisation.

Accountabilities

  • Update the Data Governance Lead on new requirements, priorities and deliverables to enhance the data governance tooling and capabilities.
  • Set up and establish tooling solutions to be utilised across the organisation to govern data (Metadata, Lineage, Data Quality, Master Data Management)
  • Develop necessary artefacts to support the data governance organisation (templates, standards, procedures)
  • Develop workflows to enable automated routines for approvals etc
  • Educate and mature the data governance organisation to scale to the entire business and empower them to become self-sufficient to govern data
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses in the data governance organisation to recommend ways to improve
  • Facilitate processes to address transversal, cross-business data governance issues
  • Measure and monitor data quality, tolerances, and issues identification.
  • Perform root cause analysis on data issues.
  • Develop and utilize business value calculations to demonstrate the benefit of the data governance capabilities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from multiple disciplines to translate data requirements into clearly defined and easily understood documents (data glossaries, dictionaries, policies, data flows, etc.)

Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive experience working in data or analytics with experience working with in data governance
  • Experience with SQL, SAS, Python, R or other languages
  • Appreciation of data warehousing
  • Ability to interpret code to extract physical data lineage
  • Ability to extract physical metadata
  • Teamwork, diplomacy and negotiation skills
  • Desire to foster and grow a data driven culture
  • Able to understand, articulate and identify value of data and data governance practices: a business and value driven mindset
  • Can make connection between governing data and using data to drive insights/value
  • Proven data literacy – experience mapping business processes and data, exposure to complexities of data models, lineage and dictionaries
  • Familiar with various technologies: relational and non-relational databases, MDM (Tibco/Orchestra), data quality management tools, meta-data management tools, lineage tools
  • Experience in analysing data, in particular assessing data quality
  • Experience and comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Desire to make a difference
