Role Purpose

Implement financial projects in a variety of languages and platforms for financial prediction and machine learning use cases. Manage coding resources and liaise with technology group for productionization

  • Manage the implementation of ML projects and AI initiatives, and manage junior coding resources
  • Proactively work across the research and technology groups as part of the implementation of new and innovative projects
  • Work on business-enhancing projects with a flexible approach to developing new ideas and approaches
  • Leverage a range of state-of-the-art tools and techniques that provide robust, high-quality proofs of concept for ongoing technical projects
  • Manage and deliver research projects as required, including machine learning use cases, cashflow scoring and prediction
  • Work with other business areas to understand business requirements and how they should be implemented within Research and ML/AI projects

Skills and Abilities

  • Highly numerate with at least a BSc in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Physics, Engineering, or similar fields
    • Preferably with 3+ year’s industry experience in software development.
  • Exposure to programming in any of the following:
    • Python and associated libraries:
      • Num-py, Sci-py, Pandas, Stats-models
      • Graphics and Plotting Utilities: Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly / Plotly-Dash, Bokeh
      • Machine Learning: Scikit-Learn, Keras, Tensorflow, Pytorch, Spacy
      • Misc: NLTK / Stanford Core-NLP, NetworkX, Various SQL connector packages
    • SQL: Basic knowledge of data selection, joins, group by aggregation and database
    • Anaconda and Pip, with understanding of virtual environment functionality, uses, and package management
    • Pycharm or similar integrated development environment
  • Exposure to Jupyter Notebooks and Jupyter Labs
  • Amazon Web Services, including Amazon Workspaces, e3, and Athena instances
  • Proficiency in both Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Various data storing / viewing formats: excel, csv, tsv, pickle, json, geojson (etc.)
  • Adherence to coding standards (e.g. PEP 8) and excellent documentation skills.
  • Desirable coding skills: HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to reduce complex ideas into simple explanatory format for non-technical parties
  • Thrives in a collaborate teamworking environment
  • Ability to think creatively, develop, present, set goals and deadlines, and deliverables
